Advancing Make in India: Expanding Manufacturing in Hyderabad
Toshiba has positioned India as a strategic global hub for manufacturing and exports in its energy and social infrastructure businesses. Reinforcing this vision, we have significantly expanded our Transmission & Distribution (T&D) equipment manufacturing capacity in Hyderabad with a new investment of INR 562 crore. This includes scaling up assembly and testing capacities for both distribution and power transformers, with a focus on meeting growing demand in India and boosting export capabilities. The investment will also establish a state-of-the-art facility to enhance vertical integration, reduce lead times, and improve quality, safety, and workplace efficiency. 40% of Toshiba’s India-made T&D equipment is already being used for renewable energy and the facility now exports advanced transformers and switchgears to more than 50 countries, positioning India as a global manufacturing and export hub for our T&D equipment.
In addition to the T&D business, Toshiba contributes to the Make in India initiative with its advanced manufacturing facility for high-quality turbines, generators, and spare parts both as new products and through comprehensive service solutions to deliver efficient and reliable power solutions.
