Telangana, August 08, 2025: Honourable Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce, and Legislative Affairs, Telangana, Sri D. Sridhar Babu today inaugurated the new manufacturing facility for CRGO Core Processing Centre, and a Surge Arrester Line at the Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited (TTDI) at Rudraram, Telangana. Sri Babu also laid the foundation stone for expansion of TTDI’s Power Transformers manufacturing line. This strategic initiative reinforces Toshiba’s long-term commitment to establishing India as its manufacturing base and export hub for transmission & distribution (T&D) business.

The newly inaugurated Rudraram facility houses a CRGO Core Processing Centre with a capacity to process 12,000 Metric Tonnes (MT) of Cold Rolled Grain-Oriented steel annually, and a dedicated Surge Arrester Production Line designed to manufacture 80,000 Units per year. Upon completion, EHV Power Transformer expansion project will increase TTDI’s overall Power transformer production capacity from 30,000 MVA per annumm to 42,000 MVA per annum. These additions will enhance TTDI’s domestic and global supply capabilities to support growing demand in India and international markets.

TTDI advanced manufacturing facility at Rudraram

The Honourable Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce, and Legislative Affairs, Telangana, Sri D. Sridhar Babu laid the foundation stone of TTDI’s EHV Power Transformer manufacturing expansion in presence of other dignitaries from the Telangana Governent, Embassy of Japan, and Toshiba Corporation.

Earlier this year, Sri Anumula Revanth Reddy, Honourable Chief Minister of Telangana, accompanied by Sri Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, Industries, ITE&C, and Sports, Sri Emmadi Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, Special Secretary, Investment Promotion & External Engagement, during their visit to Tokyo, signed an MoU with TTDI to advance its previously announced investment of JPY 10 billion (INR 562 crores) in expanding its manufacturing capabilities in the state. As part of the MoU, the proposed investment of INR 562 crores is expected to generate over 250 direct jobs over the three years from FY2024, further contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.

With a strong focus on quality, innovation, and sustainability, TTDI has exported India-made transformers to more than 50 countries, cementing its role as a global hub for T&D equipment. Going forward, TTDI remains committed to contribute to its global efforts toward carbon neutrality and the development of resilient social infrastructure for electric power companies and manufacturers worldwide.
