Donates overall INR 25lakhs to various CM Relief Funds
29 May 2020 - Lucknow - With its guiding principle "Committed to People, Committed to the
Future", Toshiba JSW Power System Pvt. Ltd. (TJPS) has pledged INR 5lakh to the Uttar
Pradesh CM Relief Fund amongst other ongoing activities for the development of local
communities.
Mr. Takayuki Marume, Managing Director, TJPS said, "The COVID-19 crisis is the toughest
trial humanity faces in decades. As the Government of India continues to address this
outbreak, state governments are working along purposefully to ensure relief work. Through
our humble contribution of INR 5lakhs to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's Relief Fund in Uttar
Pradesh, we stand in support of these efforts in every way possible. Additionally, we will also
be contributing INR 5lakhs each to the CM Relief Funds in Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Orissa."
TJPS was awarded the complete Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) for
660MW Harduaganj thermal power project to raise Uttar Pradesh's power generation capacity
and reduce the cost of production, thereby offering lower tariffs to consumers. Since the
project inception in the year 2015, TJPS has undertaken many community development
programs in the region like organising medical camps, blood donation camps, promoting
sports events, etc. In a major initiative, TJPS addressed water scarcity problem in nearby
villages by laying submersible pumps & building a 7km long PVC water pipeline providing
safe drinking water.
Employing more than 3500 workers from Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country, Harduaganj project has created vast employment opportunities for local youths, skilled, semiskilled, and unskilled workers from all over India. As work resumes during the ongoing
pandemic, TJPS reinforces its commitment towards ensuring the well-being of all its
employees by making arrangements as per central & state government guidelines to
maintain social distancing and personal protection (face masks, sanitizers, safe travel
arrangements, etc).
"We are especially mindful of the safety of our workers and staff and consider it our top
priority. Upholding Toshiba's values 'Do the Right thing', our employees too are donating to
the CM Relief Fund contributions", added Mr. Marume.
A total of approximately INR 1.95 crore have been donated by Toshiba group companies in
India, the contributions include voluntary salary contribution by Toshiba employees as well as
contribution from Toshiba group companies namely Toshiba India Pvt. Ltd. (TIPL), Toshiba JSW Power Systems Pvt. Ltd. (TJPS), Toshiba Transmission & Distribution India Pvt. Ltd. (TTDI), Toshiba Software India Pvt. Ltd. (TSIP),Toshiba Water Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (TWS) and Toshiba
Johnson Elevators (India) Pvt. Ltd. (TJEI) in India.
