TOSHIBA Expands Its Indigenous Mobile GIS (m-GIS) Portfolio with Delivery of 132kV System to POWERGRID

Hyderabad, June 01, 2026 : Further expanding its indigenous m-GIS portfolio following the launch of India’s first 220kV m-GIS system, Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited (TTDI) today announced the successful delivery of its indigenously developed 132kV m-GIS system to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID).

The development and delivery of the 132kV m-GIS system marks another major milestone in TTDI’s ongoing efforts to broaden its indigenous mobile high-voltage solutions portfolio in India. Supplied to POWERGRID to meet utility-specific requirements, this achievement also supports India’s continuing journey toward grid modernization, resilience, and indigenization.

On this milestone, Mr. Hiroshi Furuta, Chairman and Managing Director of TTDI said, “We are delighted to further expand our m-GIS portfolio with the delivery of the indigenous 132kV m-GIS system to POWERGRID. This closely follows the successful delivery of India’s first indigenous 220kV m-GIS system a few months ago. This compact, highly mobile solution has been developed and engineered in India, reflecting our strong commitment to the Government’s ‘Make in India’ mission. It leverages Toshiba’s technology and local engineering capabilities, while meeting POWERGRID’s stringent technical and operational requirements. As India’s transmission sector evolves rapidly, TTDI will continue delivering customized, high-performance solutions that enhance grid availability and resilience.”

Toshiba 132kV m-GIS shipped to POWERGRID

The 132kV m-GIS system was developed by TTDI by leveraging Toshiba’s engineering expertise, technology and local manufacturing capabilities in India, while incorporating POWERGRID’s product specifications, and technical, quality, operational, and safety requirements.

Built to operate reliably under challenging field conditions, the 132kV m-GIS system features a standardized “Connect–Operate–Disconnect–Redeploy” configuration that significantly enhances agility and operational flexibility across the grid.

With its compact footprint and modular architecture, the system is optimized for rapid deployment in high-density environments and an expanding transmission ecosystem. The system is engineered to fit standard transport trailers, withstand mechanical vibration and transport stresses, maintain critical electrical clearances and support seamless integration at live project sites.

This makes the 132kV m-GIS system a highly dependable asset for utilities, renewable developers, disaster response teams, and transmission operators requiring fast-acting mobile power infrastructure.

Following the successful delivery of India’s first 220kV m-GIS system and now the 132kV model to POWERGRID, TTDI is currently in the advanced stages of engineering its indigenous 400kV m-GIS system for delivery later this year.
